RDC Kings VBALL win Game 1 at Nationals.

The opening match of the 2013 Ironwood Wealth Management Group CCAA
Men’s Volleyball Nation Championship saw the powerhouse Red Deer
College Kings defeat the University of King’s College Blue Devils in
straight sets 3-0. Set scores for the match were 25-13, 25-17, 25-18.
The number one ranked Kings looked solid from the opening serve,
physically over matching their Halifax opponents. The Kings outscored
the Blue Devils in kills (38-23), aces (6-2) blocks (4-3) and digs

Heading in to the Championship, the Kings were considered the favorite,
having captured a Gold Medal at the highly competitive ACAC
The Kings were led offensively by a pair of third-year outside hitters.
Six-foot-five Braden O’Toole of Canmore, Alberta finished the match
with 12 kills, one service ace, and seven digs, while Team Captain Tim
Finnigan recorded 11 kills, one service ace, one block and six digs.

Red Deer will look to continue their strong play on Friday, March 7th
at 6:00pm when the team takes on their Alberta rival SAIT Polytechnic
Trojans in the Gold Medal semi-final match.
