MRU and RDC sign historic agreement celebrating the new Bachelor of Business Administration degree Ceremony makes official the long awaited Business degree program
Red Deer, May 11, 2012 – Red Deer College officially signed a partnership agreement today with Mount Royal University during a celebration at its downtown campus, home of the Donald School of Business.
“We’re very pleased to finalize the agreement today,” said Joel Ward, President and CEO of RDC. “Since we made the announcement a few weeks ago we’ve been inundated with calls and requests about the degree program. We’ve been very encouraged by the response of central Albertans eager to pursue this incredible opportunity to stay in the region and complete a Business degree.”
The morning celebration was attended by a host of dignitaries that included the, the Honourable Cal Dallas, Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations, MLA for Red Deer North Mary Anne Jablonski, and Mount Royal University President, Dr. David Docherty. Local business professionals, alumni, students from RDC’s Donald School of Business and members of the community were also in attendance at the partnership signing.
The Bachelor of Business Administration is being offered by RDC in partnership with Mount Royal University. At the end of the four-year degree, students will graduate with a Bachelor’s degree credential granted by Mount Royal University.
“Mount Royal is pleased to offer students the opportunity to complete this degree in Red Deer through our partnership with RDC,” says Docherty. “We think this will have a very positive impact on Red Deer and the greater community now that students don’t have to transfer to another institution in Alberta to complete the Bachelor of Business Administration degree. We are proud to be a part of it.”
By offering the Bachelor of Business Administration degree in the heart of the business centre of Red Deer, students will have unique opportunities to network through planned events and strategic mentoring relationships as they are partnered with proven business leaders at the Donald School of Business through the Entrepreneur-In-Residence Program.
Applying theory learned in the classroom to real world projects developed in partnership with the local business community is emphasized in the new degree to ensure students receive a business education relevant to today’s business world.
The first class of students in the Bachelor of Business Administration program will graduate at RDC’s 50th Convocation Ceremonies in June, 2014.
RDC’s Donald School of Business is accepting applications for this degree from students now, for classes that will start in September. Applications are available via www.rdc.ab.ca or by calling 403.342.3400
